Ingersoll Rand vane air starters use a lubricated sliding-vane motor that delivers very high break-away torque from a small air burst—ideal for short, hard cranks but heavier and maintenance-intensive. Their turbine starters spin an impulse wheel instead, so they’re lighter, need no oil, draw nearly constant airflow once up to speed, and excel at longer or more frequent cranking where ample continuous air is available.
